Ala Bashir's Christ View, Message of Love

I've lost hope that Iraq could return to the civilized country it once was. It was a country where women could walk freely in the streets. A country known for having the most educated population in the Middle East. A country known for its art shows and artists.

My heart rises with hope when I read about Iraqis who do their best to bring the bright picture of Iraq to the international community. Dr. Ala Bashir has been doing it since he left Iraq in 2003. His latest art show "Christ View - Message of Love" opens on Oct. 14th, 2006 at Lesley Roy-Corvus Art Center in Connecticut. Lesley's art center is the permenant host of the surviving artwork of Dr. Ala Bashir.

I received the special invitation to attend the vernissage on the 14th of Oct., where the guests meet with Dr. Bashir. There will be a Q&A session with him and the Editor of the Artist magazine. Dr. Bashir is featured as the magazine's cover story of its October issue. Unfortunately, I just started a new job and won't be able to take a holiday for another five months.

My long-time readers are accostomed to my posts which bring light to the brightness of the Iraqi people - the ones you don't see on TV screens. Doing so keeps me hopeful that one day Iraq could rise from the ashes.
